Russell of the Wisconsin College of Agriculture. At the same time, he held an assistantship in the Department of Agricultural Chemistry and carried on graduate work, but he was advanced in responsibility and rank too rapidly to obtain the Ph.D. He was appointed instructor in Agricultural Chemistry in 1912.
