The 'Father of Electrophysiology'
Galvani demonstrated that a frog muscle twitches when an electrical shock is delivered to the nerve. He also demonstrated that this was an intrinsic property and that a twitching muscle could excite a second nerve. This was the first convincing evidence of 'animal electricity', the basis for the action potential.
