Bio:

1873-1978. Best known for his studies of the Anopheles mosquito, which is responsible for transmitting malaria. He spent most of his career in India, but he also worked in Latin America, Mesopotamia, and Africa. He was a founder of modern medical entomology. He confirmed Donovan's discovery of the parasite of Leishmaniasis in the liver of patients with kala-azar. He also studied Aedes aegypti, the mosquito vector of yellow fever.
