Pioneer biophysicist and inventor of the first wireless detection device; discovered millimetre length electromagnetic waves. Recognised as among the fathers of radio science by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS, 1920). Foundation Fellow of the National Institute of Sciences of India (FNI, 1935).
