Rudolf Wagner (June 30, 1805 - May 13, 1864), German anatomist and physiologist was born at Bayreuth, where his father was a professor at the gymnasium (classical preparatory high school). He was the co-discoverer of the germinal vesicle. He made important investigations on ganglia, nerve-endings, and the sympathetic nerves.
