Bio:

1936-. Ph.D. from Boston University and then briefly at the Rockefeller Institute and Columbia University, then Director of Microbiology at Harlem Hospital before moving to the University of Chicago in 1970. Founding editor, Clinical Microbiology Reviews. She became Professor, Vice Chairman of the Department of Pathology, and Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the University of Chicago.
