Bio:

Constantine Stassis was born in Athens Greece in 1937. He studied Physics at Ecole Politechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland) and completed his PhD in Experimental Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) in 1970. His dissertation was entitled "Study of some aspects of Nagaoka’s quasi-bound state by neutron diffraction" and it was performed under the supervision of Prof. Clifford G. Shull (Nobel Prize in Physics 1994). After spending year as a postdoc at MIT Dr. Stassis joined, in 1971, the faculty of the Dept. of Physics and Astronomy of Iowa State University in Ames, IA (USA) becoming also affiliated researcher at AmesLab. He retired in 2005 and spent his time between Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Ames. He passed away on April 14, 2023.
