Nicholas Arnoldus, professor of divinity at Franeker, was born at Lesna, in Poland, December 17th, 1618. He went to study divinity at Franeker under his countryman Maccovius, and under Cocceius. In 1643 he took a voyage to England, and not being able to go to Oxford, all the roads being filled either with the king's troops or those of the parliament, he went on foot to Cambridge, but he could not there hear one lecture in divinity, all the professors being imprisoned in Trinity College. On his return, he seems to have settled at Franeker, and ultimately succeeded Cocceius there as professor of divinity.
