George Adamopoulos was born in 1899 at the village of Kranidi in Peloponnese and passed away in 1977 in Athens. He obtained his BSc in Physics as well as his PhD from the University of Athens. His thesis, entitled "The Moon and the weather", was completed under the supervision of Prof. Plakidis in 1945. His whole research career was at the National Observatory of Athens where he was responsible for the operation of the equatorial telescope. He performed a numerous observations of variable stars, comets, and planets of our solar system.
