Katsis Demetrios, (1911- 2001) Astronomer, Educator (retired). He was born in Zarouchleika, Patras, Greece and received his B.Sc. in Mathematics (1934) and the Ph.D. in Astronomy (1955) from the University of Athens, Greece. He worked for 15 years as Assistant and Chief Assistant at the National Observatory of Athens, for 8 years as Chief Assistant at the Laboratory of Astronomy of the University of Athens and for 22 years as high school teacher in Athens. His scientific interests were around the Celestial Mechanics. He published many monographies on astronomical matters. He was a member of the IAU, of the Hellenic Astronomical Society (Hel.A.S.), of the Societe Astronomique de France and of the Hellenic Mathematical Society.
