Astronomer (retired) at the Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille, in France. She was born in Athens, rceived her B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athenes, her Ph.D. from the University of Thessaloniki (1974) and her These d'Etat from the Universite de Franche Comte (1978). She worked at the Democritos Nuclear Research Center (1971 - 1974), Besancon Observatory (1976, 1978 - 1983), ESO (1977) and since 1983 at the Marseille Observatory. Her research interests include dynamics, formation and evolution of galaxies and N-body simulations. She has made seminal contributions in her research field and was awarded the “Fotinos'' prize of the Academy of Athens in 2005, the Brouwer Award in 2011. She became Fellow of the American Astronomical Society in 2020.
