John M. Polygiannakis born in 1967 and obtained his PhD from the University of Athens in 1996. He died on the 10th June 2004, at the age of 37. He was diligent researcher whose interests ranged, from Cosmic Rays and Plasma Physics to Solar Astronomy and Space Physics to Non-linear systems, Chaos, Self Organized Critical Systems and Geophysics and Seismology.
