Robert L. Pecsok received his S.B. summa cum laude from Harvard College in 1940. He worked for Proctor & Gamble (1940-43) and served in the U. S. Navy (1943-46) before returning to Harvard to obtain his Ph.D. in 1948. Dr. Pecsok joined the faculty of UCLA the same year as Assistant Professor of Chemistry and advanced to the rank of full professor in 1961. He was Vice-Chairman of the Department of Chemistry from 1965 to 1970.
