On page 69 he explicitly thanks his advisor Friedheim as follows: "Es sei mir gestattet, an dieser Stelle meinem hochverehrter Lehrer Hrn. Privatdozenten Dr. C. Friedheim für die Anregung zu dieser Arbeit, und seine freundliche Unterstützung bei der Ausführung derselver bestens zu danken."
On page 73 he mentions that he took classes from a.o. von Baeyer (in Munich), and in Berlin from Emil Fischer, August Kundt, du Bois-Reymond, Emil Warburg, Friedheim, Siegmund Gabriel

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1929 was awarded jointly to Arthur Harden and Hans Karl August Simon von Euler-Chelpin "for their investigations on the fermentation of sugar and fermentative enzymes"
