1881-1969. Father of modern helminthology. Developed a taxonomy of parasitic worms. Made important discoveries on loa loa, Clonorchis, Gnathostoma, Ancylostoma, Enterobius, schistosomiasis, and dracunculiasis, among others. With Manson, he distinguished S. mansoni from S. haematobium.
