Wolfgang Sachtler retired in May 2009 after serving Northwestern for over twenty years with an unwavering devotion and contributing immensely to research fields of chemistry and catalysis. During his tenure, he served as director of the Catalysis Center (1983 to 1994), V.N. Ipatieff Professor (1983 to 1996) and as Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and Senior Research Associate, CCSS (1996 to 2009).
