While his obituary and entry in the "Dictionary of National Biography" (https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Ronalds,_Edmund_(DNB00) ) observe that he returned to England in 1840 after receiving his degree under von Liebig, von Liebig's biographer William H. Brock (Justus Von Liebig: The Chemical Gatekeeper) records that he obtained his degree in 1842, after which he pursued post-graduate studies at Jena, Berlin, Heidelberg, and Paris.
