Born April 3, 1888 in North Adams, Massachusetts, son of Robert Henry and Emma Dawson (Lynch) Haslam. Died 1961.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Professor of chemical engineering, 1920-1927; Director, Research Laboratory of Applied Chemistry, and Director of School of Chemical Engineering Practice, 1927-1935.
Standard Oil Corporation, New Jersey: Founded Esso Research Laboratories in Baton Rouge while on leave from MIT (1927). Vice-president and general manager of the subsidiary Standard Oil Development Company (later Esso Research & Engineering Co.), 1931-1935. General sales manager, 1935-1942. Director, 1942-1950. Vice president, 1945-1950.
