Ralph O. Moyer, Jr. is the Scovill Professor of Chemistry at Trinity College where he teaches inorganic and introductory chemistry courses. He earned degrees from the University of Massachusetts (Dartmouth) (B.S.), the University of Toledo (M.S.) and The University of Connecticut (Ph.D). He was part of the scientific team at Union Carbide Corporation which pioneered the development of carbon and graphite fibers. He studies the formation, structure, properties, and applications of metal-hydrogen compounds. An active member of the CVS Board since 1980, he served as Section Chairman in 1984 and as Secretary since 1990.
