Bio:

I am currently the Secretary of the Distance Education Bureau at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Full Professor and Researcher at the Applied Computer Science Department of the Institute of Informatics at UFRGS, Porto Alegre, Brazil. I work at the Post-Graduation Program in Computer Science (PPGC) and also at the Post-Graduation Program in Computers and Education (PGIE). I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science (PPGC/UFRGS, Brazil, 2004), an MS.C. in Computer Science (PPGC/UFRGS, Brazil, 1999), and a BS.C. in Computer Science (UCPEL, Brazil, 1996).

My research activities are related to Recommender Systems, Text Mining, Web Mining, and Information Retrieval. I have some studies regarding big data and social network analysis, more specifically, I'm interested in the development and application of social models to identify user's reputations and to recommend authorities.
