Bio:

Cynthia F. Moss received a B.S. (summa cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1979 and a Ph.D. from Brown University in 1986. She was a NATO Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tübingen (1985-1987) and a Research Fellow at Brown University (1987-1989) before accepting a faculty appointment at Harvard University in 1989. At Harvard, Dr. Moss received the Phi Beta Kappa teaching award (1992) and was named the Morris Kahn Associate Professor (1994). In 1995, Dr. Moss moved to the University of Maryland, where she was Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Institute for Systems Research. She served as Director of the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program (2004-2007). She is now Professor and Chair at the Johns Hopkins University, with a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and joint appointments in the Departments of Neuroscience and Mechanical Engineering. She was awarded the William and Christine Hartmann Prize in Auditory Neuroscience in 2017, the James McKeen Cattell Award in 2018, and the Alexander von Humboldt Research Award in 2019. She is an elected fellow of AAAS, Acoustical Society of America and International Society for Neuroethology.
