Bio:

Fischberg was born in St. Petersburg in Russia and was educated in Switzerland, receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Zurich in 1946. After a year of postdoctoral research at the University of Basel, he went to the Institute of Animal Genetics in Edinburgh on a two-year research fellowship from the Swiss Academy of Medicine. Fischberg became Jenkinson Memorial Lecturer in Embryology and head of the Embryology Laboratory at Oxford in 1951. In 1961 he was a visiting professor at the Rockefeller Institute.
