Bio:

Dr. Guenther is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering with cross-appointment to the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and conducted postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is recipient of the Safwat Zaky Research Leader (2021) and Inventor of the Year (2012) Awards of the University of Toronto, the I.W. Smith Award of the Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineers (2010), the Ontario Early Researcher Award (2009), and the ETH silver medal (2002), and held the endowed Wallace G. Chalmers Chair of Engineering Design (2012-18). He has published >50 scientific papers and is the inventor of >9 (granted or filed) families of patents. Dr. Guenther is a founding Director of the Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT) in Toronto.
