Bio:

Doctorate of Science in botany at the university of Pretoria 1971 writing his thesis on the genus Commiphora. He is at present senior lecturer in Botany having spent nine months lecturing at the university of Zululand Empangeni before coming to Stellenbosch. Dr. van der Walt spent 1974 visiting the Rijks Herbarium Leyden working on the South West Africa species of commiphora. He is m arried and has four children.
