Bio:

Ernesto was one of the first (if not THE first) student of Gines Morata. He was co-discoverer of the three lethal complementation groups within the BX-C: Ubx, abd-A and Abd-B. Each of these genes were shown by others to carry a homeobox sequence. Since then he has worked on the regulation and function of the BX-C genes, including lately work on how Ubx shapes the Dpp gradient in the haltere and how this controls the size of this organ.
