The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1928 was awarded to Charles Nicolle
for his work on typhus.
Discovered the typhus fever is transmitted to humans by lice in 1909. He also identified the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, the cause of toxoplasmosis. Also known for his work on Leishmaniasis, tuberculosis, tick fever, Malta fever, scarlet fever, rinderpest, measles, and trachoma. Awarded the Nobel Prize for physiology or medicine in 1928.
