b. 1888. Originally from Tokyo, he graduated from Stanford with a B.A. and M.D. in 1916 and 1920, and then finished a D.P.H. at Hopkins in 1929 as a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow. He was later a Professor and Dean of the School of Medicine at Keio University in Japan. Founded and was the first Editor-in Chief of the Keio Journal of Medicine after World War II. Took part in a WHO meeting on the public health training of general practitioners in 1956.
