1940-. Trained at Georgetown and Dartmouth with fellowship at University of Washington in infectious diseases. Involved in the discovery of Bartonella henselae. Previously Director fo teh Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Stanford and then became Director of Infection Control at Stanford.
