Bio:

1804-1873. The first to apply the insect vector theory of yellow fever and a founder of the Medical College of Alabama, Nott served as doctor in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and was a supporter of slavery (and a slave owner) and an advocate of the theory of polygenism, that human races had separate origins. His theories were refuted by Darwin.
