Gemma Frisius' most important teacher in Louvain was the linguist Johannes Campensis. He was also influenced by a Polish envoy, Joannes Dantiscus (1485-1548), who stayed in the Low Countries from 1530-1532, and who introduced him to Copernicus' theories
