John Green Burr, professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Oklahoma, died at home Monday of complications from multiple myeloma. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Moore University Parish in Norman.
He was born March 12, 1918, in Fort Sill to Col. John G. Burr, Sr. and Ruth Guyer Burr. Burr graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1940.
In 1969, he took a position as professor of chemistry at the University of Oklahoma. He retired from the University of Oklahoma in 1986 with more than 100 refereed publications and two books.
