Bio:

Discoverer of recA, recB, recC, and recF genes; discovered that homologous recombination in E. coli is mediated chiefly by the recA gene; studied UV radiation sensitivity of E. coli by epistasis analysis, which became the basis of understanding the enzymology of homologous recombination. (Deceased)
