Henry Bassett, Jr. had two doctoral degrees -- a Ph.D. in organic chemistry with Adoph von Baeyer in 1904 and a Docteur es Sciences in inorganic chemistry with Antoine Nicholas Guntz in 1905. Bassett made his life's work in inorganic chemistry. Bassett was a member of the faculty of the University of Liverpool until 1912. In 1912, he became a professor at the University of Reading (UK).
