the next generation of scientists developing electrogravimetry may be exemplified by William Dupré Treadwell [43, 44], the son of Frederic Pearson Treadwell, the author of once famous textbooks of Analytical Chemistry. The son William Dupré Treadwell (Fig. 6) studied in Zurich, where he also received his Ph.D. (1909), for which he partly worked with Fritz Förster in Dresden. Shortly after obtaining the Ph.D., he moved to the Technische Hochschule Berlin-Charlottenburg (now Technical University of Berlin). There he habilitated in 1914. In 1915, he published a monograph on electrogravimetry, which very much helped to make popular this rather new technique
