EDDY , SAMUEL ( 1897-1972 ) Born March 29 in Decatur , Illinois . James Millikin University , B.A. 1924 ; University of Illinois , A.M. 1925 , Ph.D. ( zoology ) 1929. Was instructor and assistant professor at Millikin University , 1924-26 ; teaching assistant in zoology at University of Illinois ; and assistant aquatic biologist for Illinois Natural History Survey , Urbana , 1926–29 . From assistant professor of zoology , University of Minnesota , 1929-38 , became associate professor , 1938-44 , professor , 1944–64 , and was honorary curator of fishes at James Ford Bell Museum of Natural History , University of Minnesota , during 1960s .
