Physicist (Columbia Ph.D., 1925), Columbia faculty member, 1919-1962, fellow of the American Physical Society and treasurer of that organization from 1957 to 1970. His research topics included ferromagnetism, solid state physics, magnetism, and elasticity and internal friction solids.
Much of Quimby's research was on Cu-Au (copper and gold). In his later years Quimby did research on the Mayan Calendar.
