Michael A. Anastassiades

Michael Anastassiades was born in Ismir (Ottoman Empire) in 1906 and passed away in Athens (Greece) in 1978. He moved to Athens in 1922, studied Physics and obtained his PhD from the Univ. of Athens in 1928. He continued with his studies in France at the Ecole Superieure d'Electricite (1930-1933). Upon his return to Greece he worked in various high level civil servant positions and in 1946 he becomes professor and chair of radiophysics and electronics of the University of Athens. From 1955 until 1975 he was also the director of the Ionospheric Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
