Dr. Trelease came to the University of Wisconsin in 1881, leaving in 1885 to assume charge of the Missouri Botanical Gardens at St. Louis. In 1884 Dr. Trelease presented to the Academic Council of Harvard University as a doctor's thesis the results of some work he had done in the botanical laboratories at the University of Wisconsin. This work was published in the Studies from the Biological Laboratory of the Johns Hopkins University, Vol. Ill, No. 4, 1885 under the title "Observations on Several Zoogloeae and Related Forms."
