Bio:

Worked with Thorne Shipley as an undergraduate at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute 1969-1970 on visual and multi-sensory evoked potentials. Went to graduate school at Washington University (St. Louis) where I worked with Hallowell Davis on auditory and multi-sensory evoked potentials, Jim Miller on auditory elements of speech perception, and Chuck Watson on cognitive aspects of auditory perception (Experimental Psychology, Ph.D., 1974).

Moved on to a post-doc with Dave Green at Harvard in the Laboratory of Psychophysics (1973-1976) where I collaborated with Dave and Walt Jesteadt on several papers in fundamental auditory psychophysics.

Spent 1976-77 at Northwestern where I had been recruited by Raymond Carhart. Dr. Carhart unfortunately suffered a fatal heart attack prior to my arrival and I spent a year setting up a computer-based laboratory for testing human hearing before moving on to the University of Arizona.
