Bio:

Bob Sheridan received his B.S. degree in 1974 from Iowa State University, where he began learning matrix isolation spectroscopy in Orville Chapman’s laboratory. He moved to UCLA with the Chapman group, where he completed his Ph.D. in 1979. After a postdoctoral stint with Jerome Berson at Yale, he began his career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1980. He moved to the University of Nevada, Reno in 1987, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry. He was named a University of Nevada Foundation Professor in 2000. His research interests include the study of carbenes, highly strained organic molecules, and quantum mechanical tunneling in reactive intermediates.
