D. in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University in1987 and worked for Hoffmann La-Roche (Nutley, NJ) from 1987 to 1989 in downstream processing of recombinant proteins. He accepted a position in June 1989 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
