Harold E. Orford, 47, professor of sanitation at Rutgers University, died on July 10, after a long illness. He was chairman of the Department of Sanitation of Rutgers' College of Agriculture and Agricultural Experiment Station from 1954 until 1957 when he resigned the chairmanship because of ill health. He has continued to serve as professor.
Born in Cleveland, Dr. Orford received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Case Institute of Technology in 1936. Rutgers University awarded him the Master of Science Degree in Sanitary Engineering in 1938. He received his doctorate from New York University. Dr. Orford joined the Rutgers staff in 1938.
