Bio:

Ali Miserez earned his Ph.D. in 2003 from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in the area of structural metal/ceramic composites. In 2004, he moved to the University of California, Santa Barbara supported by a Swiss National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowship, where he broadened his research interest towards biological materials and molecular biomimetics. He joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore in 2009 as an Assistant Professor and in 2011 he was awarded the Singapore National Research Foundation Fellowship, a well-funded grant for early career scientists. He was promoted to full Professor at NTU in 2021. His research focuses on revealing the molecular, physico-chemical, and structural principles from unique biological materials and on translating their molecular designs into novel biomimetic materials for healthcare and sustainable applications.
