THOMAS FREDRICKSON (b. Kane, Pennsylvania, 1928) holds degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Illinois and studied composition with Tilden Wells, Hubert Kessler and Burrill Phillips. He served as Director of the School of Music of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign from 1970 to 1974, and since then as professor of composition and theory. He has composed extensively in a variety of styles and media and is active as a double bassist in symphonic, chamber and jazz ensembles. He is one of the founders of the University of Illinois Contemporary Chamber Players.
