Second Bishop of Smyrna, Turkey (80-155).
Born in 69 and baptized in his infancy by Apostle John.
Study under Apostle John since his infancy in 69 to 80.
Martyred at the age of 89 years old.

"The blessed Polycarp has borne witness to the early Xanthicus, the second day, the seventh day before the Kalends of March, a day of great sabbath, at the eighth hour. He was arrested by Herod, under the pontificate of Philip of Tralles, and the proconsul of Statius Quadratus, but in the reign of our Lord Jesus Christ, to Him be glory, honor, greatness, the eternal throne from generation to generation" (Martyrdom of Polycarp, c.21).
