Dr. Feldman received a B.S. from the CCNY in 1940, an M.S. from New York University in 1946, and a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1949. He was involved in defense work at the National Bureau of Standards during WWII. From 1949-1950 he was an AEC Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies; 1950-1956 he was assistant professor of physics at the University of Rochester; 1956-1959 he was associate professor of physics at Brown University; and from 1959-1991 he was professor of physics at Brown University. Dr. Feldman was a fellow of the American Physical Society, and a member of Phi Betta Kappa and Sigma Xi. He played a signature role in modernizing the physics department at Brown and broadened the program there to include particle and nuclear physics. He developed the High Energy Theory group and worked with C.N. Yang, a Nobel Laureate, defi ning asymptotic states in Quantum Field Theories, an important contribution to the development of modern particle physics.
