Bernd Rogg received Diploma in Mathematics in 1978 and Mechanical Engineering in 1981, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 1983 -- all at Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule, Aachen. From 1983 to 1985 he joined Professor F.A.Williams as a postdoc at Princeton University. From 1985 to 1987 he worked with Professor J. Warnatz at the University of Heidelberg. In 1987 he moved to Cambridge, UK, where he was appointed to Lecturer in the Thermodynamics Group of Division A at the Cambridge University Enineering Department. In 1994 he accepted the Chair of Fluid Mechanics at the Ruhr-University Bochum, where he retired in 2016. In 1990 he was offered a Professorship in Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg and in 1997 he was offered the Chair of Thermodynamics in Aviation and Space Technology at the University of Stuttgart.
