Bio:

William (Mac) Mellor passed away on January 25, 2022. He was 80. Upon graduating from the Taft School (CT) in 1959, Mac attended Princeton University, obtaining B.S.E, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace and Mechanical Sciences. He joined Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in 1967, rising through the professorial ranks to Professor. In 1975, Mac joined Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Drexel University and then became the Centennial Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee in 1986. He retired from Vanderbilt in 2004 as the Centennial Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Emeritus.
